Light hit your eyes making you blind for a moment, humming could be heard, as well as metal hitting each other. “Y/N! Time to wake up!” you groaned and looked up to see Mark smiling down at you, You slowly sat up and rubbed your eyes “What time is it?” Mark clicked his tongue “ 8:00” You gave him a tired glare “Dad, why did you wake me up so early?” Mark chuckled and held up a brown leash “I’m shocked you forgot already” Your mind clicked and you quickly shuffled to the edge of the bed, “Woah, calm down there”.

    You huffed and lifted your arms like a small child begging to be hold, Mark smiled and gently picked you up, snuggling into his chest, you could smell his comforting scent. He smelled of coffee and trees from being outside with Ryan and Matt, it made you feel safe. Carefully walking down the stairs, Arin and Dan could be heard in the living room “Morning guys” You yawned “Well, look who’s up early!” Arin laughed, Dan chuckled and pushed your wheelchair to Mark “Today is the day” You said rubbing the sleep from your eyes. “The day?” Arin asked confused, Dan punched his shoulder causing him to yelp “Yes Arin! The ‘day’!” Arin eyes went wide and nodded “Oh! The day!” Mark pushed your chair to the kitchen “How about some eggs?” You looked up at him “Can I have apple juice too?” Mark laughed “Of course”.

    Quietly sitting at the table, listening to the sound of eggs popping made time slow done.  “Here you are” Mark smiled as he placed down a plate of eggs and toast in front of you, “Thanks!” Quickly but yet not too quickly you munched down your food. Mark chuckled as he took a sip of his coffee “I take it you’re excited huh?” You nodded as you ate the last bite of toast “All done!” Mark set his mug down and walked behind you, “I brought your clothes down so you can change in the bathroom” You grinned “Let’s go!” Mark laughed lightly as he began to push you towards the bathroom.

   

    Mark waited by the closed bathroom door as you put on your day clothes “Need any help in there?” Mark asked “No! I got it!” Mark chuckled to himself “Always gotta do things on your own”, You opened the door and glared at him “Dad, I’m not a baby!” Mark smiled and ruffled your hair “You will always be my baby girl” You huffed “Come! Let’s go!” Mark moved behind you and began to push your wheelchair “Alright, alright. Calm down” You giggled as you were wheeled outside.

“Dad? Do you think she’ll like me?” You asked as Mark lifted you into the passenger sit “Yeah I think she’ll love you! I bet she’ll sleep with you and push your wheelchair!” Mark grinned.

    The car ride there was torture, it felt like hours before you even got the shelter, Mark parked and shut the car off. You stared at the building, it was big and painted the color light brown. Barking and meows could be heard inside. Mark smiled down to you as you took in the place “You ready?” He asked in a calm voice.

    You nodded and gently pushed open your door, waiting for your wheelchair. Really you were nervous, what if she didn’t like you because of your wheelchair? You would be heartbroken if she did. But you pushed those thoughts to the side. Feeling yourself be lifted up and placed in your wheelchair, you looked up to see Mark smiling “Well, Let’s go”.

 

    Looking around, pens and animal beds were everywhere. Puppies jumped up barking trying to get your attention. Mark stopped your chair and looked down at the puppies “oh my god, so adorable!” You gently petted one of the puppies and smiled “Hope you find a home soon” The puppy barked and licked your hand before running to the other puppies “Dad, Let’s go” Mark smiled and began pushing you towards and brown door. It looked like an old storage room. Holding his arm out Mark opened in the door and let you wheel yourself in. Standing in the middle of the room stood a woman holding a white golden retriever by its leash, you grinned and wheeled over to the beautiful dog.

    “I take it you like her already?” You smiled as you gently reached your hand out to her, she happily lifted her soft head to your hand making you giggle “Her name is Chica” hearing her name made you grin “Chica, like Five Night’s At Freddy’s” Mark slightly groaned at the mention of that god forsaking game. Chica placed her front paws on your legs and placed sloppy wet kisses all over her face, the woman pulled the leash trying to get her off “Chica! Down!” You smiled as Chica stayed put on your lap “It’s okay, I can’t feel her nails” The woman passed the leash to Mark “Well you already signed the papers, so she’s yours” Mark grinned as Chica jumped down off your lap and tried to push you with her head, slowly your chair began to move towards the exit. Mark laughed at the sight “Well looks like I don’t have to push you anymore!” Grinning you looked back to see Chica moving her legs faster to the parking lot “Way to go Chica!” Chica gave a quick bark. Suddenly stopping Chica looked around trying to find where to go next “I got it from here girl” Moving again Chica followed you and Mark.

   

    Mark gently put you in the sit along with Chica “You guys ready?” “Yup! “WOOF!” Laughing Mark closed your door and sat himself in the front, starting the car. As the car began to move Chica laid her head on your lap, you smiled and patted her head “Welcome to the family Chica” Mark smiled looking at the sight their the rear view mirror ‘I’m glad she’s happy.. And has a new friend’.
